ZOROPATION: Wicklow, Glendalough and Avoca

Na estrada outra vez...
On the road...once again ehhe

O passeio de hoje inclui as montanhas de Wicklow, o ''mosteiro'' e o vale de Glendalough ( leia-se Glendalók), o vilarejo de Avoca, entre outras paisagens de tirar o fôlego.
This tour includes The Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough Valley and Tower, the village of Avoca and many other beautiful landscapes.

Paramos neste vilarejo para tomar um café...como eu não gosto de café e não tava com fome eu fui explorar, descobri esse riacho no meio do mato.

Coffee break in a unknown village...you are not hungry and you don't like coffee..what do you do? you go to EXPLORE the area hehe and then I found this tiny river amingst the woods.

Olha a cor da água, acreditem não é poluição, isso acontece por causa do solo (não vou explicar, coloca ''concentração de TURFA no solo da Irlanda'' no Google e divirta-se hahahaah)....dá a impressão de ser um riacho de Guinness (uma cerveja irlandesa BEM famosa).

Look at the colour of the water, this is not caused by pollution, it is due the composition of the soil (google ''peat concentration in Irish soil'' if you want further details heheh)...this river seems to be made of Guinness (a very famous Irish beer)

Este lugar costumava ser uma prisão para menores, mas foi fechada logo após a independência irlandesa.

This building used to be a prison for teenagers, it was closed when the Irish got their independence.

Montanhas selvagens irlandesas, turfa...turfa...turfa em toda parte, por isso que há tantos riachos e lagos de Guinness por aqui.

GLENDALOUGH (Gleann Dá Loch)

Glendalough, em gaélico Gleann da Locha, o vale dos dois lagos. O vale é edílico, atravessado por um rio de águas muito limpas e frias que liga os seus dois lagos (o superior e o inferior). Há um mosteiro, dividido em pequenos edifícios. Foi fundado no século VI, por Saint Kevin, um dos fieis seguidores de Saint Patrick, o introdutor do cristianismo da Irlanda e padroeiro da ilha. Aliás, Saint Kevin veio a ser sepultado no local, na Saint Mary’s Church, igreja católica do século X.

Known in Irish as ‘glenn of the two lakes’, Glendalough is a glacially sculpted beautiful green valley. During Ireland’s ‘Golden Age’ (AD 500-900) Glendalough was home to a monastic settlement established by St Kevin, a reclusive monk, who for seven years enjoyed a simple and solitary existence, with animals and birds as his only companions. St Kevin came to the area during the sixth century and founded this monastery in AD 498.

A torre medindo 30 metros de altura não tem porta, ela era usada pelos monges para armazenar e proteger manuscritos e utensílios valiosos, portanto quem quisesse entrar na torre teria que usar uma escada e entrar pelas janelas.
